Curled locks that elegantly settled onto his forehead sometimes fell into his eyes with the wind.
And I can’t even bring myself to push it away… it made him look so dear, charming and… real.
Mortal, Eternal, and everything in Between (if there was such a thing at all).
Oh Rama, this world has engulfed you with its cruel nature too soon.
Far too soon.
And I care not if it is too foolish of me to wish for such a thing,
But it would be nice if you sought refuge in my lap,
Just for some time.
Just until you catch a wink,
Until you get just a little rest.
I promised to call out for you,
Whenever I felt lost
And so whenever the world feels a little too heavy to you,
I hope you remember this dear friend of yours.
I hope you remember this
Śri Śauri Sakhi.
Inspiration (from 'Hylessa' in 'Sri Ramadasu,' 2006):
ముల్లోకాలను కాసేటోడ్ని కాపాడాలని పిచ్చి నాది
It is my desire to protect He who watches over the three worlds,
నీడనిచ్చే దేవునికే నీడనిచ్చే ఎదురుచూపు
And my longing to shelter the One from whom everyone seeks refuge.
